Been reading some Arthur C Clarke lately and I've been drawing a bit of inspiration from his writings. If you haven't read any of his sci-fi I suggest you check it out. Brilliant, addicting stuff. Oddly I didn't start with his classic 2001 a Space Odyssey (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70535.2001), instead I started with Rendezvous with Rama (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/112537.Rendezvous_With_Rama) which is a great concept involving a sort of cylindrical space ark arriving in our solar system.
